  • According to Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, the home ministry's parliamentary secretary, some 14,316 Chinese surrendered their citizenship between 2000 and 2006, compared to 1,098 Malays, 822 Indians, and 238 others.

    In other words, of all those who have taken the plunge and 'quit' Malaysia during the six-year period, 87 percent came from the Chinese community.
