I refer to the Malaysiakini report From unity talks to intellectual discourse .
Judging from ground sentiments, it is hard for Umno to win in Manek Urai. However there may a chance for them to win it because PAS is losing it on its own.
The crack in PAS is yet to be healed. The show of unity in Pakatan Rakyat will just remain just a ‘show’ if there's still a political will to revive talks with Umno by the pro-unity faction in PAS.
So now, is Umno a foe or a friend to PAS?
Today, PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan, in a joint press conference with Umno Youth deputy chief Razali Ibrahim, said the ‘intellectual talks’ between PAS and Umno Youth are aimed at resolving the political standoff between the two parties. If this is not a suicidal step, I do not know what we supposed to call it.
How can you declare there's a need to talk to resolve anything between your enemy and you when there's an upcoming ‘war’ in two weeks time?
What is there to talk about when your enemy decided to fight against you?
When ironically they purposely skipped the last by-election for some stupid reasons reasonable only to them?
Why can't they use the same logic to skip this by-election as well?
Or do they see PAS as an easier prey? Or do they see this is a chance for them remove someone who stood so strongly against the ‘unity talks’ between the two parties?
Can't they wait after the Manek Urai by-election before having a press conference like this?
It is all too obvious that the move to silence Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat once and for all seems to be gaining momentum. E
veryone knows that by losing Manek Urai, the pro-unity faction in PAS can finally cripple Nik Aziz's credibility and influence and they can move towards reviving the unity talks with Umno without much hassle.
Manek Urai to Nik Aziz is now a matter of his personal political survival in the near future. PKR and DAP cannot help much here.
In Manek Urai, 99% of the voters are Malays. Nik Aziz is basically alone and worse still, he seems to be surrounded by a lot of ‘tigers’ dressed as sheep.
To defeat Umno is not hard for Nik Aziz. To defeat internal enemies without losing Manek Urai while maintaining PAS's unity and stability is the tough part. Will Nik Aziz survive this time?
If he doesn't, we can see the breaking up of PAS and Pakatan Rakyat sooner than we expected.
The one that will have the last laugh will be Umno - not the PAS pro-unity faction as they will soon realise what a fool they were to be used by their enemies to demolish their own leaders and party.
