I live in Kajang, commuting to Kuala Lumpur daily via the RapidKL U40 bus service. Previously, there was the choice of using the E2 express buses. Since Nov 16 this year, the E2 service has been terminated.
For the past several weeks, the U40 bus services have been irregular and inconsistent. After work, I used to wait at the Sungai Long bus stop at around 6pm and the bus would come in half an hour to an hour's time.
On Nov 26, 2009, I waited at the bus stop at 5.40pm. But our wait was in vain. One U40 bus did pass by at 6.25pm but was full, and would not take anymore passengers.
When other passengers and I walked to the Bukit Dukung bus stop, there was another large crowd. We realised that the bus would not stop upon seeing the crowd as has happened to us many times.
In the end, I had to take a taxi as it was already late. How much more do U40 bus service users have to suffer in this manner?
I had called RapidKL's helpline previously to complain about the irregular U40 services but the staff are useless. I insisted on speaking to their superiors but they refused to transfer my call and requested that I come directly to the office. What is the helpline for, then?
They should allocate senior officers to talk to customers. The helpline staff showed poor knowledge of bus routes. They kept asking for my contact number, falsely assuring me of returning my call. In the end, no one has.
How long more will we U40 bus passengers suffer, waiting up to an hour for a bus to take us home?
