Grow up first then try to win back Penang, Gerakan

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Flak for closure of public space in Penang which is nothing but a childish political propaganda by Gerakan Youth, Penang.

I actually wanted  to just leave a comment at the bottom of the article, but I think I’d better write a letter directly.

As a Penangite, I am quite disappointed that Gerakan has now turned into a childish and immature political party. Do you think the Penang people are interested about a few fences that are being put up at Dewan Sri Pinang?

Or even about last complaint about Lim Guan Eng's bungalow rent? Instead of complaining about small and tiny things, can Gerakan please spend more time thinking on how to help Penangites and improve the island.

Your Minister Koh Tsu Koon is in the federal Government. So please use Gerakan's influence there to help Penang's development. We are not interested in cheap publicity stunts by your Youth section (which I think most Penangites would label as troublemakers).

I think Gerakan Penang just doesn't have any good leaders to lead them now. It is so much different from the days of Lim Chong Eu, whom most Penangite still admire.

And that's the only history for Penang people to remember about Gerakan. To be fair to Gerakan, I did vote for them in the past but I voted for DAP the last time round because of the arrogance of the Gerakan's leaders in Penang and who just only knew to ‘kow tow’ to Umno.

I think Gerakan's ideology is still acceptable but the problem is its leaders. So if Gerakan ever wants to win back Penang, I think the first thing is they need to do is identify several new ‘quality’ leaders to lead them in Penang (and please, also tell your Youth section to grow up).
