One simple boycott won't destroy MCA, okay?

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Boycott will not be reviewed: MCA veep .

I write in response to statements by MCA leaders in the mainstream newspapers over the past two days condemning the decision to boycott party functions and activities by the faction led by Liow Tiong Lai.

This decision has been judged by some in the higher echelons of MCA as being disrespectful to the party and its members as well as being destructive and negative.

As a member of MCA, I believe that this boycott is a minor issue. Those who are unhappy with the current leadership have decided to show their dissatisfaction by not attending events hosted by them.

That is all there is to it.  To say that this act of boycott is going to destroy the party is nonsensical and an insult to the intelligence of MCA members as a whole.

Let me educate these ‘leaders’ if they are unsure about what is really destroying the party.

We are being led by two leaders who have been told by the delegates, via their votes, that they are not wanted anymore. Ong Tee Keat promised the delegates that he would resign if he failed to garner two-thirds of the votes  in his bid to remain as president at the Oct 10 EGM. But four months after losing that vote of confidence, Ong is still MCA president.

And to make things worse, he is now an ally of Chua Soi Lek. Didn’t Ong spend his entire presidency prior to the EGM on dismissing Soi Lek’s moral values as well as his ethics?

As for the MCA central committee, Liow’s faction has 13 members while Ong and Soi Lek have the rest. This means the political deadlock is inevitable.

The best way out of this mess is for the members to decide once and for all who they want as their leaders. Give us back our right to vote and we’ll show who is worth our trust.

The problem is these leaders take us members for fools. Now, that is what is destroying the party.
