Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘It is alright to bow but not too low that you would tumble over.’

For the past few days I have been following the whole by-election from the Web.

Kamalanathan, apart from your photos which I must admit are beautifully crafted for the sole purpose of eliciting strong emotions of a caring person, you have nothing to show for the depth of your character. Compared with Zaid Ibrahim’s photographs, they are far cry from being caring. But on the matter of issues, he has spoken with clarity and intelligently.

Ironically, you, Kamalanathan, have avoided pertinent questions thrown at you which you conveniently asked to be deferred to after the by-election. This only shows that you are unable to debate on issues that are of national level. Issues that you have touched so far are not of parliamentary level or value.

The nearest you have come to the national level is when you defended Ibrahim Ali’s Perkasa and in the same vein you put down your own fellow Malaysian, P Uthayakumar in your blog by saying that ‘ P Uthayakumar hasn’t done anything productive or constructive for the community since its formation’.

I have personally heard Uthayakumar speaking at a seminar organised by Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran in Ipoh many years ago. On that day he spoke with passion of the injustices suffered by the Indian Malaysians.

I have been following local politics and I have found that throughout the years, he has without fail spoken out for the downtrodden Indian Malaysians. He and others formed Hindraf which nearly changed the course of history in the 2008 general elections.

MIC had year in and year out, for the last 50 over years, had remained stagnant to the plight of the poor Indian Malaysians. Is that not something, Mr Kamal, Mr Alan, Mr Nathan or whatever?

To be honest with you, there is one thing you say about Uthayakumar that is true. Uthayakumar hasn’t done anything. Yes he hasn’t done anything that is detrimental or anything that is morally wrong to the Indians. This he has not done.

Mr K, A and N, this is not a beauty contest where image come first. This is a contest where the people of Hulu Selangor have to make a choice to elect their MP. To be fair to them, you must influence their choice by your capability and your intelligence to debate on all political issues that will affect us, Malaysians, for years to come.

This you must do. Not just break up your name into Kamal, Alan and Nathan to show that you represent a Malaysian entity. This is a very shallow way of saying that you are representing a multi-racial socity. I don’t buy it.
