It appears that last week, PM Najib Razak had a sudden dose of humility when he apologised for the mistakes of the BN which led to the fall of five states to Pakatan Rakyat.
He was essentially saying, I am sorry for the bungling leadership of my predecessor but the future looks good under my leadership.
He obviously is still wearing blinders, unable to see the folly of his ways and that of his political party which of late stands for gutter poilitics, dirt smearing and gangsterism.
The political party which is the government of the day has totally lost the plot and lost faith with the rakyat.
From health and safety issues in the east coast town of Kuantan to the abuse of funds in the cowgate fiasco; people are tired.
Instead of truly cleaning up his party and the government, we hear of new videos of Anwar Ibrahim, sordid sexual details in the newspapers and everything except for the economy and how to fix it.
It is not as easy as just saying sorry. Words are cheap. There has to be restitution.
First the BN government should pay back or recover the recent losses of PKFZ and NFC.
Investigate the accusation of graft and corruption into the purchase of Sukoi jets, submarines and commuter trains.
The money could have been used to upgrade schools, build pedestrian bridges, improve public hospitals etc.
Secondly, bring to justice those responsible for the deaths of Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani. They did not die on their own spontaneity. Everyone knows that and justice must be served.
Thirdly, resolve the health risk of the Lynas plant which was erected without proper dialogue with the community.
These are but a few of what the prime minister can do to seek forgiveness from the rakyat.
Resolve these outstanding issues then we know that your apology is not like your 1Malaysia slogan; mere lip service.
