The minute Tunku Aziz Tunku Ibrahim said that he was resigning from DAP, people started to say that he was bought over by Umno and words like ‘traitor', ‘katak' etc, are now flying all over cyberspace.

This is something which the former DAP vice-chairman himself expected.

However, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has called Tunku Aziz as a man of principle and integrity.

I do not know Tunku Aziz personally but I believe that he was, he is and he will continue to be a man of principle and integrity.

Tunku Aziz has my respect for the work and effort he had done for the nation.

Perhaps, by him resigning from DAP is a good move as he, in my opinion, should not have joined politics in the very first place.

A person with a PhD does not necessarily mean that he/she will be a good teacher. It's the same for Tunku Aziz where he might be a great man but that does not automatically make him a good politician.

Based on the current situation, it seems that Tunku Aziz is really not suitable to be a politician. A politician is not only about yourself but it is also about the political party that you belong to.

Of course, I agree with Tunku Aziz that he has the right to differ and to voice out his dissent but he will have to follow and respect the party's decisions. The minority will have to follow the majority.

The way in which Tunku Aziz announced his resignation and then publicly criticised Lim Guan Eng clearly showed that Tunku Aziz has no passion and love at all towards the party.

He knew his action would surely cause great damage to the party he once belonged to, but he went ahead anyway. A good politician will not do that - as I have mentioned, politics is not about yourself.

Nevertheless, although Tunku Aziz may not be a good politician, I believe and hope that he will still be a man of principle and integrity.

I also hope that people will stop labeling him as ‘traitor', ‘katak' etc, as this would be unfair to him.

Although he has left DAP and maybe politics, I hope that he will continue to contribute to the country and help to form a better tomorrow.
