Streamyx subscribers have been taken for a ride by TMnet which keeps on increasing rentals without improvement to their service. In March, Streamyx subscribers found it hard to login and this was attributed by TMnet to a denial of service attack on its servers. This lasted for about two weeks.
After that, having logged in, it was quite impossible to access international sites (which was due to a technical fault as announced by a recorded message when TMnet support was contacted). Since then, accessing Streamyx is a touch-and-go situation whereby lady luck plays a major role. References were again made to TMnet support and their staff (who are most polite, I must admit), attribute the problem to line connections and a report is lodged to the appropriate sections. Then the linesmen come and after testing, declares the line to be all right.
To be fair, blame must not be heaped onto the poor staff at TMnet support whose job is just to try to sort out the problems faced by the subscribers. They are not in contact with the technical boys in charge of the Streamyx servers and therefore, when queried, are unable to enlighten the subscribers as to the technicalities of server problems which TMnet has found it fit not to inform its customers.
Accessing malaysiakini is now a mammoth task. Can we hope for a rebate in our monthly subscription? I dare not think.
