  • I agree with Francis Foo's 'One god, same name', that Allah is the same God in many religions. Christians call out 'Alleluja' which is similar to the Muslims' use of 'Allahuakbar'. However, God also has many names.

Christians mainly use Jesus to refer to God. Muslims use the name Allah Taala. Thus, God's name in any bible should be Jesus Christ and not Allah Taala. It must be remembered that Allah is the Arabic word for God. So, it should only be in the Arabic bible. The word Allah Taala should not appear in bibles translated into Iban or Malay.

The Malay-Indonesian bible uses the word 'Tuhan Bapa', 'Tuhan Anak' and 'Tuhan Ruh' as translations for the Holy Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. Thus, the Iban bible should use the local dialect, not Arabic, to describe God. This will only lead to confusion

    • Bible not an equivalent to Quran
    • Only one God and please dont divide Him
    • The word 'Allah' is not the monopoly of Muslims
    • Allah used in pre-Islam Arab world
    • Why not use Iban word for Allah in Bible translation?
    • One God, same name
