I am a little surprised by James Wong's outpouring of gratitudes to named politicians in his recent article .
I understand that there is an overwhelming sense of relief in the release of the ISA 6 who were unjustifiably incarcerated for their political beliefs.
I think if any of us chooses to act in their defence - whether legally (in this, Wong has completely forgotten to cite the various lawyers in his 'grateful' piece) or politically - or in whatever little way we did, I think it is for the greater cause of freedom.
We should not expect any oppressed person in the same plight to be ever mindful and grateful. We are duty-bound to pursue the cause of justice, whether we believe in a God or not.
Please do not place a burden on those freed. They are supported because they, and we, believe in the greater freedom for all.
We cannot rest on our laurels as more are still in ISA detention under all other kinds of false claims.
