The doa selamat (thanksgiving prayer) issue again showed that it is non-Muslims who are left at a disadvantage. They had to call in political groups to meet and 'coax' the headmistress to stop reciting the prayer over the PA system.

In fact, this issue could have been easily solved by the Director-General of Education himself. Being the superior, he could issue a 'stop' order to the headmistress, who would have to comply.

If she does not, the DG could have her transferred to another school, most probably a religious school where she could play the doa selamat without any complaints.

I would like to imagine what the DG or Umno would have done if Christian hymns or Buddhist chants were played on the PA system every morning in a school?

Would they call for a meeting with all parties to resolve the issue? Would the DG be as helpless and dumbfounded as he is now?
