The recent threat by Armed Forces Veterans Association chief Mohd Ali Baharom to do a butt dance is an insult not only to Malaysiakini , but to Rosmah Mansor herself.

Unless of course the the prime minister’s wife is telling people that unless Malaysiakini apologises to her, she would show her butt in public. This is exactly what the people are reading when you have a group of men doing the butt dance, and trying to defend Rosmah.

After all, there is no reason why Rosmah, if she wants to be a public figure, cannot be subject to criticisms when she said something that was ‘out of tune’ with the people.

Have you ever wondered why the people held Endon Mahmood, the wife of former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in high esteem?

Or, even when people criticised or made fun of the Malaysian maverick, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, they did not mock Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali?

Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is given the respect befitting of a Malay woman of honour.

Why is only Rosmah now the subject of people’s scorn? Why are more political satires are being generated these days to make fun of Rosmah? Even within Umno, there is a lot of unhappiness with Rosmah Mansor.

Rosmah should know the answers better on how she should behave as the wife of the country’s national leader.

I have been given to understand that Mohd Ali Baharom is not respected even by the members of the Armed Forces Veterans Association.

To me, I think he is nothing but a rascal who continues to make a mockery of the morality of this nation. Mohd Ali should realise that his first attempt to wag his buttock in front of the house of Bersih’s co-chairperson, Ambiga Sreeneevasan, was not well-received by the people.

If the police condone such an act that brings shame to the community, they are doing a disfavour to the Malaysian public at large.

I, for one, was wondering what has happened to the Muslims and the Malay morality in this country, until I heard the touching story of PAS leader Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat who travelled to Kuala Lumpur for a party meeting without using his official vehicle. This is the kind of Muslim man that I respect.
