I did not know whether to laugh when Malaysia's great deputy education minister said that only one Indian was qualified to enter Universiti Malaya's medical course - there were no other Indians with the right qualifications to be admitted to UM .

You are not serious minister! I hope you are not.

Last year they were 16 Indian students who were admitted to the medical course. Excuse me, have the Indians suddenly become so stupid that only one little Indian had the right qualification to be admitted to UM?

Even the Economist pointed out there was something wrong in the education system in Malaysia. The June 29 issue of Times Higher Education Supplement (a British publication) printed a short note quoting the deputy prime minister as saying that the new system of enrolment into public universities was not a failure.

He forgot to mention that only one race has better opportunities for admission to public universities.

I suggest the Indian community sue the vice chancellor, the registrar of University Malaya and the deputy education minister.
