This morning, I took a 10am flight to a foreign destination from KL LCCT.
I had forgotten that I had my handphone in my pants pocket and was wearing a pair of shoes that had metal braces when I passed the security sensor gantry.
When the sensor beeped, the security personnel patted me down and asked me to move on. I couldn't believe he didn't even notice that I had a bulging device in my trouser pocket nor that I was wearing a metal laced shoe.
Despite the recent security fiasco, I am very worried that the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) hasn't tightened the security procedures. I had lamented about a similar security concern two weeks ago and till now, there hasn't been an improvement.
What if I was a terrorist and had smuggled in a sharp device in my pants? Will we still insist that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) had been complied with when questioned?
When will we ever learn?
