Is Liow another ‘tiger head, snake tail’ leader?

Is the MCA president another ‘ hu tou she wei ’ (tiger head, snake tail) MCA leader like Wee Ka Siong?

In the last two weeks, MCA leaders have been making incessant attacks on the DAP over the hudud controversy.  Besides spreading lies and falsehoods against DAP, MCA leaders have also tried to portray how principled and courageous they are, that they will oppose hudud implementation at all costs.

But Malaysians know MCA’s track record and know, too, that it is just a matter of time before MCA’s false courage will be exposed.

It therefore did not come as a surprise that MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong had yesterday clarified that he did not say MCA would withdraw from BN if Umno votes in favour of the hudud bill, but would just review its position.

What surprised me though is that Wee has shown is true colours so fast and just because a junior minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, has whacked him over MCA’s  supposed threat to leave BN.

What Wee actually said was MCA’s preparedness to review its position. This is so different from the tough impression that MCA leaders have been trying to portray over the last two weeks in their many daily statements in Chinese.

If Wee were truly consistent and courageous as he has been trying to portray himself to be, he should have said that MCA will definitely withdraw from BN, and not just a preparedness to review MCA’s position.

The Chinese idiom ‘ hu tou she wei ’ (tiger head, snake tail) best describes Wee’s political style.

It was reported in yesterday’s media that MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, while speaking at an MCA meeting in Seremban two days ago, had said, “If Umno proposes hudud, MCA will definitely break with Umno... and will go out to stop Umno from tabling a hudud bill”.

Can Liow explain to Malaysians what he meant by breaking with Umno? Did he mean that MCA will surround the Parliament as MCA has threatened if PAS tables the hudud bill? Or did he mean that MCA is prepared to quit BN? If so, why was the hesitation to say it clearly?

Can Liow assure Malaysians that he will not be another ‘ hu tou she wei ’ MCA leader like Wee Ka Siong if he is attacked by Umno leaders for his remarks made in Seremban?
