The Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) is pleased to announce that the Centre is working on providing policy input for the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016-2020) which the government has set to announce in June 2015. The 11MP is the blueprint which will chart the direction of all economic sectors in the country for 2015-2020.

As part of CPPS’s public consultation exercise, CPPS is now seeking public feedback to serve as input for policy recommendation based on the following four themes: Liveable Cities, Convergence in Rural Communities, Resilient Governance, and Competitive Market Economy.

The current 10th Malaysia Plan underlines five strategic basics for Malaysia to achieve a high income nation status by 2020, including increase the value in economy, improve knowledge abilities and innovation, handle socioeconomic inequalities, improve living quality, as well as strengthen the institution and country’s implementation.

As a country progresses and society develops, the time has come for the government to look into facilitating and educating the development of a ‘first-world mentality’ in its people.

Malaysia has the infrastructure of the first worlds but at times we still lack the mentality and behavior of a developed nation.

Issues like liveable cities, quality of life, sustainable and inclusive development should be among some key issues that CPPS hopes to see being included in the 11th Malaysia Plan. We trust that only continued effort and foresight can propel Malaysia into a high income, developed nation status by the year 2020.

CPPS Research Analyst Lau Zheng Zhou will be leading a team of researchers for this project and we appreciate comments, feedback and input from all walks of lives between now until the end of July 2014.’

A roundtable discussion will be held in August this year to seek consensus with various stakeholders with regards to the recommendations. Interested parties are invited to submit their recommendations to [email protected] .
