The police, by being so diligent when it apprehended the 'SOS Damansara' leaflet distributors exhibited their selective and discriminative practices.
Malaysians are daily bombarded with leaflets from loan-sharks. Leaflets outlining the services of loan-sharks are openly distributed and are stuck in our mailboxes, door-handles, windshield wipers and where ever one can slip a leaflet.
I'm sure if the police wants to put a stop to loan-sharking it can charge the distributors for littering. The police can also apprehend the distributors and check if they have a permit for distribution of leaflets.
The PM's call for a royal commission is indeed timely. The royal commission should look into the police's selective enforcement of the law.
