It is utterly nonsense that (1) Malaysians are looking for imported cars and that (2) imported cars are better than Proton models just for sake of reason (1).
The Proton management has been sleeping under the protective apron of the government over the past 20 years. They have wasted the valuable time that others would have used to create a quality product.
I once helped my nephew in taking delivery of a new Proton Iswara from its main depot. While driving the new car, I found that, whenever I made a turn, there was a funny sound from one of the front wheels. The Proton workshop checked and found that the left wheel was faulty and could have fallen off, if I had driven any faster!
The car had to be left there for two days to get the wheel replaced. While waiting for the repairs to be done, we found out that this sort of problem was not new - there were many other problems faced by other buyers.
I was a car salesman for Mazda and Peugeot under Asia Motor and these sorts of problems were never heard of. Also the attitude of the EON salesperson was horrible! He tried to "cheat" my nephew by taking away certain accessories well before delivery, as well as the Astro free gift. His tricks would have succeeded if not for an experienced uncle who was around.
Proton, please do not blame others, but pull up your socks first. (Note: I have two Proton cars!)
