Muzammil Haji Daud is very wrong when he assumed that Malaysians always regard foreign products are better than Malaysian and hence Proton cars would never be good in our eyes no matter how much it tries.

He goes on to show how successful Toyota is. When he quoted Toyota as an example of success little did he know that when Toyota cars were first introduced to Malaysia in the 60s it was shunned by the people here. They thought Toyota was made from 'Milo' tin then and was not safe to drive. During that period anything made in Japan were regarded as 'Jeepoon Hui' in Chinese, meaning goods of poor quality.

But see how it had changed. Now Toyota is so highly sought after. This does not come about by just pure protection but by sheer hard work on the part of the Toyota team. Now anything Japanese means good quality.

Proton too has a team. But I doubt the capabilities of many of the players. I am sure by now they know the work ethics of the Toyota team. But the real monumental problems faced by Proton is the people who manage it.
