As wireless internet is getting popular in the Klang Valley, there are a couple of WiFi hotspot providers such as AirZed, TimeZone and Maxis Utopia. Not to be left behind, Telekom too decided to join in the bandwagon.

As I am an existing Streamyx subscriber, I paid RM10 for a month just to try out its services. With its aggressive Hotspot ad campaigns with Siti Nurhaliza and Too Phat, Telekom seemed to be serious, which prompted me to give them a try.

Unfortunately Telekom is far from being acceptable in terms of service. I've tried my Hotspot account on numerous occasions at KLCC but failed to get my connection working. Bugged down with login problems, I called technical support which cost me a long waiting time.

First they blamed it on my login account which is actually correct, then they blamed it on my network card. When I insisted that it was working fine on my end, they had the nerve to conclude that nobody complained before and even asked me to solve it myself with the store manager.

I've shared my experience with other mobile internet users and they too complained the same thing about TM Hotspot connectivity. So much for hassle-free wireless internet by Telekom.

Being fed up, I cancelled my Telekom Hotspot account and moved to another WiFI Hotspot provider. In fact, some coffee houses do offer free WiFi access and there were no problems.

Telekom is seriously having a big problem with their Hotspot service and should improve their services before spending so much money on misleading advertisements and celebrities. At the same time, their technical staff should not treat their customers as a bunch of idiots. They should strive to solve the problem rather than play the denial game.
