Much have been said on the ongoing sabre-rattling by Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim’s loyalists such as Syarhan Humaizi from Pemuda PAS Selangor, writer Nathaniel Tan, and blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and not forgetting also the free media time given by the government-owned TV3 , Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian .

Despite repeated urgings for his resignation or removal, by both PKR and Pakatan Rakyat, Khalid continues to defy these and has even dared the Selangor MPs to call for a vote of no confidence.

The rakyat asks if he should stay, after all he has already done a decent job in Selangor. ‘Decent’ is subjective here, if by ‘decent’ they mean ballooning of state reserves, then yes, he has, and Selangorians are thankful for that service.

However, ‘decent’ is no longer appropriate here. To survive the dynamic world today one has to adopt the culture of ‘kaizen’ or continuous betterment.

As a dynamic, responsive and responsible party, PKR, upon taking cues from its grassroots, has decided that it is time that Selangor moves to the next level of delivery.

It is despicable to continue to brag on claims of being the richest and prosperous state in Malaysia when Selangorians still struggle to own houses and even when they do (with great difficulty), rubbish continues to be uncollected, reliable water supply now becomes a luxury and suspicions continue to underline inter-racial relations.

All these happen at a time when Khalid is the MB of Selangor. Worse still, the Selangor government under his leadership continues to ignore these problems and refuses to listen to the needs of the people.

This is why Khalid should pave the way for other candidates, especially to those who have been proposed by the same group of people who had chosen him before, namely PKR and Pakatan Rakyat.

The reason that Pakatan has agreed to this mechanism for appointing the rakyat’s representative, the MB in this case, is to ensure that no one person remains in total control to the extent that he is blind to the rakyat’s needs and sufferings.

Khalid, remember the saying 'power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely' - in this saga you have indeed shown your true colours.

You have refused to respect the wishes of the very people who supported, nurtured and appointed you to office. It doesn’t surprise us to see your new support base now.

Please tell the rakyat the real reason why you refuse to resign and stop justifying your stay as fulfilling the rakyat’s or Istana’s choices.
