It is really disappointing when during a time where Muslims around the world unite and celebrate the first of Syawal, focusing on repent and forgiving one another regardless of age, race or religion, it seems that Pakatan Rakyat’s priority is otherwise.

Countless articles and statements have been made on the on-going Selangor MB position in recent weeks and it is becoming more exciting by the day. It also begins to prove that Pakatan is indeed fragile and I don’t even want to imagine what will happen if they are the ones managing the country. The thought of someone like Tian Chua becoming transport minister and managing the MH370/MH17 crises is indeed a nightmare.

That is a slight digression from the main point that I would like to put forward here.

If I may humbly ask, what would Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (or whoever the new MB is) do differently to solve the issues faced in Selangor?

This is a hot question raised by almost all the Selangorians that I have met in recent weeks whenever we talk about the Selangor MB crisis over coffee and I believe it is also in the minds of top Selangor politicians like YB Ong Kian Ming, who has been noticeably silent on this matter.

Often Pakatan Rakyat leaders talk about Khalid Ibrahim not being able to manage the water and Bible issues properly but what guarantees are there that the governance will be different if a new MB is sworn in? Politicians, especially in the opposition camp, often get away with high level statements but what we need are concrete and detailed solutions.

Take religion for instance. The federal government has committed to the 10-point solution in managing the polarities of the Bible issue. Of course it does not make everyone happy but this is the kind of detailed solutions on issues that I expect to come out from them.

Let it be clear the 10-point solution was by an Umno-led BN federal government. The people in Selangor know clearly that Umno has no control over what and how the state government is being run by seasoned politicians like Anwar Ibrahim and MB Khalid Ibrahim. Do not drag Umno into the political mess that has been created in Selangor all because of one powerful political family.

Stephen Ng wrote an open letter to Khalid Ibrahim and said, "What you and the others should have done was make a strong stand once and for all". He needs to make it crystal clear that the “others” include Anwar Ibrahim, Abdul Hadi Awang and Lim Guan Eng, too.

DAP reps’ proposal

It is still fresh in my memory, within a day or two of the Bibles’ confiscation, there were three DAP assemblypersons who provided a solution in Selangor. YB Yeo Bee Yin, YB Rajiv Rishyakaran and YB Lau Weng San said they would propose the changes to be made on the Selangor Non-Islamic Religions (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988 at the next state assembly sitting.

It was reported that Anwar ticked off these three DAP assemblypersons and this proposal did not see daylight. Are you convinced that Dr Wan Azizah will make a stand and resolve these issues? I am not.

Iskandar Yaacob, who rarely writes his political opinion but decided to put his thoughts on why Khalid Ibrahim needs to be replaced, said, “I recalled a claim made by my friend that he (Khalid) promised many things to people, be it party leaders or ordinary people, but never delivered. Even Anwar is not spared.”

What exactly were these promises made by Khalid Ibrahim to the party leaders and Anwar Ibrahim that were not delivered? I can’t help but wonder if it has something to do with the RM3bil cash reserves in Selangor.

Jangan main-main, Pakatan Rakyat. The patience in many of us Selangorians is running thin.
