Could someone please tell me if tomorrow my husband converts to Buddhism, would he have automatic rights to convert my children to Buddhism?

I understand from the recent court case that if he converts to Islam, my poor non-Muslim children will also become Muslims. I am a bit confused here. I as a mother has no say in what religion my kids are to be brought up on.

My job here in Malaysia would be to help the process of procreation. I was under the impression that we live in a modern world where there is justice. But how wrong I could be.

Malaysian women, beware and be very worried. You may have given birth to your kids but you have no right to decide their religious faith if your husband converts to Islam. In other countries, if a non-Muslim married man wants to convert to Islam then he first needs the permission of his wife.

But here, with our 'first world infrastructure', he even gets to convert his kids without obtaining his wife's permission. Third world mentality can't get anymore lower than this.

My heart goes to the boys who are in the middle of this drama. Do they have any rights or choices? Did anyone find out what they really want?
