I wish to comment on the letter Intelligence - that's what a judge needs .

I agree. I have no doubt that the judge showed wisdom in selecting the religion of the children in this controversial case. Islam is the official religion of Malaysia. When one parent is Muslim, another a non-Muslim, the national religion takes precedence over the other.

I believe this to be the best for the children. In Malaysia, only a Muslim can be the prime minister. To deny a child's right to a Muslim upbringing is to selfishly deny him (or her) the right to realise his dreams and aspirations.

Many other topnotch jobs are reserved for Muslims, such as the position of inspector-general of police. Not to mention countless other top posts in the military, in education and in politics.

In Europe, many Jews converted to Christianity so as to improve their employment and promotion opportunities.

When father and mother feud, the children's welfare should be the priority. In the mentioned case, the judge had the children's interests at heart.
