I fully agree with YW Yeoh's letter Don't drive away local talent . However, I have a few comments to add after reading various other contributions regarding equal rights for all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion.

First of all, are we (the non-bumis, that is) really to believe that the government will abolish or tone down the New Economic Policy in the near future? We must be realistic, if you have the right to buy a property at a discount and have scholarships for your children, would you let go of these rights?

Empirical evidence show that successive governments have been manipulating various issues to their advantage. For example, the government was promoting Apec when they needed the American market, the EAEC when they wanted to exclude Australia and the US, the NAM when they want to be champions of the third world, the OIC when they wanted to advance Islamic nations.

With Chinese population dwindling in Malaysia, what needs to be done depends on the Chinese themselves.

And with the encouraged growing of the Muslim population in Malaysia with priority to Islamic culture, I would think that the mindset of the Chinese should be borderless, and this is where I disagree with YW Yeoh.

There is nothing wrong with the brain drain. In fact, we should encourage our children to move to Singapore, China, Taiwan etc. if we disagree with Malaysian government policies that are based on race and religion.
