I take this opportunity to express my appreciation and thanks to malaysiakini for having selectively published my previous comments and opinions, relevant to current national and international issues that have been raised in the media.

It has always been stimulating to be part of the whole process to achieve media transparency that will affect the hearts and minds of our people as well as those 'nosy ones' around the world who are deliberately interested in our national affairs.

This phenomenon is embodied as freedom of the press and thus everyone who is responsive to our government and society should not be denied their legitimate right to express themselves in way or another without fear nor favour.

This key principle of human rights must also include our former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim who has been expressing his agonies and thoughts to both the local and foreign press.

Having said that, I wish to refer to Lone's remarks that all the sensitive comments and opinions openly expressed by our media readers, both positive and negative, may not have reached the ears of our prime minister.

Consequently, Lone even suggested that some proxies of Pak Lah may have been instigated to response or react to sensitive issues at the behest of the prime minister.

I am afraid that I do not subscribe to this opinion. How can we say that influential people like Musa Hitam, who was one of our flamboyant and polished former deputy prime ministers, is another proxy of Pak Lah?

If this is what we perceive of the character of Musa Hitam, then it is a personal insult to our fellow Malaysians who have been part of the democratic process of our nation building.

This leads to the question as to whether I am one of these proxies, who is out to bodek our previous and current prime ministers. I do not compromise on my principles and integrity and it is on record that I have served the government in various positions for over 34 years with absolute loyalty and complete diligence.

Over time, I have also being victimised as the truth is sometimes an expression of pain with emotions that others may not understand in the reality of issues.

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi is known to be a very cautious administrator but that doesn't mean that Pak Lah is weak and should be taken for granted. Pak lah has a lot of human qualities and virtues that have yet to surface for public knowledge.

Pak Lah certainly wants to know the truth but it's not fair nor reasonable to expect him to respond directly to every issue that has been raised in public.

The cabinet has a collective responsibility and there is nothing wrong if the ministers or the prime minister's aides respond to critical and urgent issues, purportedly from the PM's perspective.

Over time, we have seen that certain responses from these responsible spokesmen had to be reaffirmed with further clarification from the prime minister himself, or his deputy.

My dear fellow Malaysians, do not despair. Continue to express your freedom of speech with responsibility and accountability. I am sure the prime minister will hear our voices through his own wisdom and mechanisms.

This is what media transparency is all about and we are free to boycott the certain media if we do not see the journalistic values or credibility being practiced in their reporting of our national issues.

Consequently, I would like to place on record that I have always tried to be fair in my comments and opinions, even if I have to antagonise my political friends who may be relevant to issues raised in public through the media.

My dear friends including Rafidah Aziz, Samy Vellu, Nazri, Ling Liong Sik, Lim Kit Siang and others know that I do not harbour any malice in my criticisms towards them. Nothing personal, no vengeance or grudges whatsoever.

I have even instigated and stirred the emotions of my political godfathers, Dr Mahathir and Pak Lah, to be more responsive to public criticisms and opinions on issues that are relevant in our efforts to maintain good governance in the public and private sectors.

The former US ambassador to Malaysia, John Malott, who was once the advocate of open criticism towards the Malaysian government is on record as saying : 'Like so many others overseas, I have been impressed by the actions that he (Pak Lah) has taken since he became prime minister. He has moved quickly to right so many of the injustices that were allowed to fester for far too long.'

This message from a distinguished US diplomat and learned personality has reinforces Pak Lah's visions for a better and more transparent government led by the coalition partners of Barisan Nasional.

Let us place some faith in Pak Lah's administration and with the proper governance and advice from his elite team of Oxbridge aides in the Prime Minister's Office, the nation will continue to enjoy peace, prosperity and perhaps equal opportunities for our children and their following generations.

Let us give Pak Lah more time and avenues to prove himself within the five-year period of the mandate given to him by the people at the 11th general election.
