Not proper to be compared with natives of America

Sometimes, I wonder whether someone else with the same name was appointed the chief justice of Malaysia years ago. I have my doubts because our judges come from a very intellectual kind of human beings in Malaysia and are always respected.

I find it hard to believe that we have an ex-chief justice who compares a tiny minority of Red Indians in American countries to about 60 percent majority bumiputras of Malaysia. This claim is made by him despite the fact that the federal constitution protects the rights with special privileges for the Malays and bumiputras. Further, Islam has been given a status where non-Muslims are barred from promoting or preaching any other religion to Muslims.

When the Europeans went to the American continent, especially, during the time of Christopher Columbus who is claimed to have ‘discovered’ America, these white men thought the earth was flat. They thought these were Indians, and looking reddish they were called Red Indians. The Red Indians were robbed of their land, livestock, their spiritual beliefs and their self-pride and honour.

When the natives acted in self-defence they were gunned down by guns and cannons when the natives had only axes and other primitive weapons. Sort of white-controlled governments were established by the then 'cowboys'.

It is also known that the native spiritual leaders were commonly known as 'medicine men' who were later termed by the whites as 'witch doctors' and many of the so called witch doctors were burnt at the stake for not conforming to white occupiers' ways!

The whites migrated from various countries by the thousands to both North and South America, thus overpowering the natives similar to conquest thus slowly increasing the white population to become clear cut majority in most of the new American nations! Extensive barbaric acts of slavery by the whites brought in the coloured people from Africa.

Dear learned ex-chief justice of Malaysia, your comparing the plight of Red Indians to that of clear-cut majority Malays in Malaysia is shocking for a person who held such a highly-respected position in our beloved nation.

If ever, there is a need for protection in this nation of ours it is the Buddhist, Hindus, Taoists, Sikhs and other minor religions who are constantly faced with conversion attempts by Muslims and Christians! Islam has a special protection and we are not disputing that, we are merely requesting fair and just laws to protect the families of respective religions.

The former chief justice has greater role to play by promoting peace and harmony rather than to create fear and hatred amongst fellow Malaysians.
