I refer to the Ricochet column by Sugu titled Reviving the cause of judicial independence .

I find it somewhat ironic that Zaid has made a plea for a return to judicial independence during his maiden parliamentary speech recently.

I say this because I distinctly remember, back in 1988 during the controversy over the sacking of Tun Salleh Abas, that it was Zaid himself who, as the then head of the Muslim Lawyers Association, had expressed his full support for the government/executive in sacking the Lord President.

I guess certain people are counting on the rakyat having short memories, or being too young to remember this fact.
