I agree with the writer that there must be freedom of religion for all human beings in a modern society. Whatever our race or currently professed religion, we are, first and foremost, human beings .
Yes, I respect Islam but in Arbibi Ashoy's letter, Islam is not portrayed as a religion anymore. The Islam in that letter is like any ruling ideology whose political purpose or practical utility is just to ensure the coherence and conformity of a group of human beings for defence and security.
There is no spiritual contents in the Islam of Arbibi Ashoy's letter.
So, let us not pretend. Give all human beings, including ethnic Malays, the freedom to choose their religion.
If God is great, then He must be confident enough to commit to the principle of no compulsion in religion.
