Initially, in the debate about our ex-deputy prime minister needing to go overseas for his back operation, the mainstream-controlled media influenced my decision especially after comments by the former prime minister against his sacked deputy.

Counter arguments were not given much prominence by the mainstream press. The situation had me thinking - what is it that is not available in this country for Anwar wanting to go overseas for treatment?

But the reasons provided recently by his lawyer made me see the logic although one will doubt them being given prominence by the mainstream printed media. The one most irritating point is the behaviour of HKL director, which suggests that the government cannot provide a solid case as far as Anwar Ibrahim's plight is concerned.

He was hiding - literally - from the Suhakam commisioners when they went to visit him. What is he so scared about? That he cannot provide any answers?

I really would like to hear any counter arguments from the government to refute Anwar's lawyer. I doubt there will be any as they will stay silent - a style they adopt when they are wrong.

While we try to debate this, we must remember a person's health is at stake and the authorities shouldn't drag the matter. If they are worried over the cost of Anwar's German operation, I am sure Anwar's family would be glad to take care of it.
