What a brilliant, technical answer from LJ that Anwar Ibrahim is really under the jurisdiction of the Prisons Department of Malaysia and therefore he can't be allowed to travel to another country where the department does not have jurisdiction.
Anwar therefore cannot be allowed to go overseas to seek the medical treatment of his choice at the AlphaKlinik in Munich Germany. What a shame!
But I do believe that the Prisons Department, at the end of the day, is under the purview of the prime minister of Malaysia. It is therefore the prerogative of the prime minister whether to allow Anwar to go overseas or not.
But at the moment it is a matter of pride and Pak lah is not about to budge.
In the meantime, while this debate goes on, there is a very real man of flesh and blood facing the possibility of paralysis. In pain and about to hear the verdict of his final appeal to the Federal Court, Anwar may face the next six years in jail.
Malaysians should not be drawn into the politics of the day where there is no mercy but only evil vendettas, security of political positions and vindictive revenge. We are above this and we should make it known to the Barisan Nasional leadership.
It is unfortunate that Umno, MCA and MIC members have become such subservient, project- hungry members that they do not speak up against this wrong. There is a wrongdoing being done here, a trespass on the rights of another Malaysian.
We must speak up and be heard.
