With regards to the issue of non-halal food, non-Muslims have never imposed their religious criteria on Muslims. For example, the Hindus have never told Muslims not to eat beef in front of them. Vegetarians have never told meat eaters not to eat meat in front of them.

Only the Muslims have told others not to eat pork in front of them. This is not seen in the Middle East, except in Saudi Arabia and Iran. Those who have travelled to Dubai or Abu Dhabi will know that in hotels there, pork is served.

When I was there and asked how this was possible, the restaurant captain (a Muslim) said that pork was served for those who wanted to eat it. They were not taunting Muslims nor were they asking Muslims to eat it.

Years of attending religious schools have not helped produce the type of forward-thinking citizens that this country needs. So much so that when they go overseas to study, they don't want to come back to their religiously introverted homeland.

Hence you have so many Malay medical consultants in the UK, Eire, USA and Australia. Talk to them and you will know what I mean. Our media should make a study of this. Interviews with these talented and skillful professionals will tell our leaders something about their policies.
