I am deeply disturbed by letter Anwar a convict, plain and simple posted equating Anwar Ibrahim with a common criminal. Doesn't he realise that Anwar was convicted under one of the most unfair trials in Malaysian history? Even a 'blind' man can see that the trials were politically manipulated.

Nelson Mandela was convicted as a communist terrorist and spent over 20 years in prison. Mao Zedong was branded a common bandit for most of the time he was leading the Chinese Communist Party.

Below is a comment of Winston Churchill on a certain trouble maker.

"It is alarming and nauseating to see Mr Gandhi, a seditious, Middle Temple lawyer, now posing as a fakir ... striding half-naked up the steps of the vice-regal palace ... to parlay on equal terms with the representative of the King-Emperor.'

If we were to take Churchill's opinion at face value, Gandhi would be nothing but a seditious lawyer, not to mention a fake religious figure who liked to pose half-naked. Well, at that time, Churchill was prime minister of the British Empire and Gandhi a seditious political figure.

So, the one in power must be right, right?

Although colonialism ended nearly half a century ago, it is sad to see that so many people still have the mentality of the colonised and ruled.
