  • I pray to the Almighty that the honourable justices who are to hear Anwar Ibrahim's appeal - Justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad, Justice Rahmah Hussain and Justice Tengku Baharudin Shah Tengku Mahmud - will act and dispense justice in a manner worthy of the institution they represent.

Theirs is to study the case before them and to act upon their God given wisdom, based solely on the facts before them.

It is not for the judges to concern themselves about the stability of any political party or persons in government. National security, by the ruling coalition's definition, is definitely not within their sphere of concern.

I pray that they will have the wisdom and the moral courage to do what is right, and as the good books say - to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly before their God. If they were to allow political influence to cloud their judgment, then God shall be the judge of them in the final day of judgement.

Previous judges have sullied the name of the judiciary when hearing the Anwar's corruption and sodomy trials. The public and the world at large have had a good laugh at the circus fanfare over the last six years, watching mattresses being carted in and out of courtrooms, listening to the police explain what 'turning over' means and hearing judges being booed out of their own courts. This is justice, Malaysian-style.

To the three judges, please return the dignity and integrity of the judiciary. Restore the independence of the judiciary to a level that the Malaysian people can be proud off once more. Correct the wrong done and do what is right. We are counting on you.
