Many are those who are happy with the release of Anwar on Sept 2. Among them are many who believe that with Anwar's release a great injustice has been overturned. Many also believe that Anwar is a beacon for reform and can lead this nation forward.

There are also those who believe that Anwar should not be hero-worshipped and that his chequered past should be remembered and that he is just a political chameleon hungering for ultimate power.

So says YW Yeoh in his letter Anwar had never challenged ISA . Yeoh reminded us that Anwar never advocated against the Internal Security Act, the University and University Colleges Act, the Printing Presses and Publications Act and other repressive legislation.

True, but this also applies to Abdullah Ahamd Badawi, Najib Razak and all the members in the present and previous cabinets. Not forgetting the majority of the Malaysian electorate who have never advocated against repressive legislation.

Are we then a nation of chameleons? Let's not just wallow in the past but be forward looking. The past turbulent years hopefully should have serve all of us well for the future beckons.

The future is truly in our hands if we make full and good use of it. Let's see chameleons in a positive manner. Let's all be chameleons for we all have to change to ensure a better future for us all.
