I refer to your report Dr M: It's Umno's right, not mine, to reject Anwar .

I agree with Dr M that it is Umno's right, and not his, to reject Anwar Ibrahim's return to the party. But in that case, the party should be given a chance to vote on it.

What is happening now is that individual leaders in Umno (with vested interests) are the ones rejecting Anwar's return to the party. Umno's members have not been given a chance to speak up, what more to vote. Maybe this is the type of democracy practised in Umno.

And if Dr M believed in this principle, he should not have sacked Anwar in 1998. Since Anwar had contested and won the deputy presidency of Umno, Dr M should have allowed Umno to vote on his sacking.

Only then can be said that the right to decide on Anwar was given to Umno. It looks like this type of right is always 'hijacked' from Umno members.
