I refer to the article May 13 remarks a warning to DAP, Chinese chauvinists .
I am, of course, appalled by the blatant threat given by Badruddin Amiruldin and would also like to express my utter disgust and horror at Dr Pirdaus Ismail's statements in the last three paragraphs of the report mentioned above.
Are Muslims only Malays?
Race and religion are separate issues. If strengthening of Islam was the true objective of Umno like he says, then shouldn't this include the non-Malay Muslims? And mind you, not all non-Malay Muslims are converts. There are non-Malay Malaysians who have had generations of Muslim forefathers who are Muslims.
Even in the time of Muhammad SAW, every single convert was treated as a proper Muslim, and all doors to the religion were always open to anyone genuinely wanting to convert, even if they were Jews.
If Pirdaus is genuine in his intention, if strengthening Islam is a priority, then shouldn't Islam be made separate from the Malay race so that many others from other communities would be more open to conversion, thus truly fulfilling the true 'order of Allah' which is propagation of Islam?
I find Pirdaus' mentality a sad reflection of the state of affairs especially when it was mentioned that he was a former imam of the National Mosque.
It is a pathetic day when religion is brandished as a vehicle for political motives, even to the point of taking sentences out of the al-Quran and using them out of context just so that political motives and personal justifications can be grounded.
This not only paints a bad picture of Islam and Muslims for the non-Muslims, but the misused quotations also misrepresent this beautiful religion and its teachings.
Pirdaus and Badruddin should know that Allah sees the intent and ultimately, they will be answerable only to Him for their acts, regardless of their present state of denial.
