I don't have much to comment about the supposed racism against Indians or other Asians in the United Kingdom. I am an American who has spent 32 years outside the US residing in Luxembourg, Northern Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In addition I have, of course, travelled extensively to other countries over the years. For the record, in my opinion, the most racist country in the world is Japan. I don't know why Asians don't look closer to home when trying to eliminate racism and lack of fair play.

And let's not forget sexism. Indeed, my wife, a Chinese Malaysian, finds that the UK and the United States are the only places where she can both work and walk around freely without being sexually harassed.

As for quickie medical education - I've always been amazed by the European system in which 18-year-old undergraduates become medical and law students. In the US, one must first complete a four-year bachelor's degree with high honours before even dreaming of professional schools such as law or medicine which are very difficult to get into.

In the case of medicine, they must take another four years of medical school (three years for law school) and after that, several years of internships and residency before they can practice medicine on their own.

Perhaps this is one of several reasons why VIPs around the world seem to choose US clinics for treatment more than any others.
