Harmony Bill? Better a National Honesty Bill

At a time in the nation’s 58 years since independence whence scandals, slander and allegations are rocking this fragmenting Malaysian political landscape, we have a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Nancy Shukri, being upbeat about organising nationwide forums for a National Harmony Bill.

Either we ordinary Malaysians are insane or the politics of Najib Abdul Razak’s administration is the biggest court jester of all times.

Given the mega-scale of corruption and alleged scandals and abuse of power with billion dollar money trails that are still rocking this nation, would it not be more appropriate and relevant to have forums all over the country to help see to the drafting of a National Honesty Bill?

Harmony does not begin with laws. It starts deep down there within us or what we call conscience. It sits on a solid platform called truth. Truth cannot be built without honesty. Therefore better the government think of a National Honesty Bill first.

In any case, who is the one guilty of shredding our fabric of multi-racial and multi-religious legacy? Is the humble population that has grown by co-existing from World War II through Independence who chose to tear the country apart with racial and religious divisiveness?

Or was it the political bureaucrats and elitist who devised this divide and rule political strategy?

When Umno was founded it was to protect this nation; when the Chinese and Indians set up their component parties it was to work in unison with Umno to build a great nation of people who were already living, playing, and working side by side since pre-independence days.

But if today Nancy Shukri thinks that a National Harmony Bill is urgently needed she may then need to answer that question of why such a Bill in this day and age after over five decades of Umno’s absolute rule?

Looking at the disgrace plaguing this nation across the globe given the horrendous scandals, allegations and on-going investigations, does the government not know that a National Honesty Bill is what needs to be put in place to promote and quickly rebuild the lost ark of transparency, accountability and ethical frameworks that can take this nation into the future with a much needed and better currency of hope?

Time we stood up tall together

Malaysians, it is time that we stood up tall together to tell these diabolic mantra-peddling leaders and gravy-train parasites that we Malaysians - Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sabahans and Sarawakians and other minority groups are better equipped with the know-how and ability and strengths to co-exist for we have a long and proven history behind us since World War II.

It is the political masters and their cohorts who have robbed us of this unifying strength that would have made Malaysia a proud, strong and admirable Asian Tiger a long time ago following independence.

Now what is this talk about a National Harmony Bill? Better we push for a National Honesty Bill to help weed out permanently all the architects of divisiveness and their paid patriots.

What say you Malaysians?

Do we have what it takes to prove to the unscrupulous leaders and gravy train loyalists that we will as true Malaysians bring back honesty as a national priority instead so no one can continue to rob us while claiming that the money and wealth they amassed is donated by strangers or through their inheritance and hard work.

The destiny of a nation is in the hands and hearts of the people - not politicians. Politicians are approved and paid professionals to help get the job done for the people.
