I fully endorse Richard Teo's view that approved permits (APs) for automobiles should be abolished. However, the reality is that too many people have grown to be dependent on them for too long.

I also propose that International Trade and Industry Minister Rafidah Aziz must come clean on this, especially the reasons why she has approved so many APs to only one person. She must also tell us who else is getting these APs.

I was told that each Barisan Nasional senator or MP is also allotted an AP. We would like to know who else are is in this privileged group. It's no use for Rafidah to go to world trade conferences and shout rhetoric while at home she practises worse things than those that she criticises.

Actually, if we look at it carefully, APs have nothing to do with protecting the local auto industry. Neither have they developed any sustainable bumiputera auto business. APs are, in fact, all about enriching the few parasites who thrive on the continued existence of our warped government policies.

All it needs is for a few intelligent officers from Rafidah's ministry to visit non-bumi auto dealers and ask how they get to sell imported cars. Like Richard said, even my 10-year-old son can accompany these officers and tell them what they should do.
