Why are we - the Malaysian public - being made to pay for the inefficiencies of privatised companies which are the legacies of the Mahathir administration? They are and have always been inefficient, money-losing ventures.

Plus, Renong group, Pewaja, Puas etc. were set up to relieve the financial burden of the government but in the end, they were made to fatten the pockets of a few.

And now, the government has announced a toll hike because it cannot afford to subsidise anymore these leech-like companies. The government now has to collect directly from the Malaysian people. Taxes increase, toll charges increase, petrol price increase which will all lead to the cost of food and energy increasing.

Despite all this is happening, the government continues to keep the fattened ministers from the previous administration. There is so much talk of accountability and of cleanng up, but there is no action.

There ought to be some accountability for the years of excesses, corruption, cronyism and graft. There ought to be some prosecution .

The pre-election Pak Lah has certainly been quiet these last few months. I believe there will be no action until a few months before the next general election. Then there will be another tag line and another campaign to dupe the ever gullible Malaysian public.
