What will be left of Malaysia for Malaysians eventually?

Several shocks are beginning to rattle Malaysians - provided they are not going to allow themselves to be distrated by all the ‘noise’ of race and religion and political party feuds.

India is opening up a highway linking three nations - India, Myanmar and Thailand. And it has been happening for a while now but Malaysians will only wake up from their slumber in 18 months from now when the highway is fully operational.

And do not forget the the Asian-China highway either.

Oh yes, then there is a whole lot of things happening not far from the Isthmus of Kra bordering Thailand and Myanmar, that could eventually connect the two oceans. Take a road trip there if you care enough.

If all that is not significant for Malaysians who are so very obsessed with race and religion divisiveness and the endless games of politicking, just see what the ‘endless promises’ are beginning to break upon Malaysia’s sunset.

1MDB has given the energy business away to China. Seemingly no Malaysians are capable to be a part of this nation’s pride and possessions.

And what do we hear just as the PM visits Russia? The Russians are coming for our national pride, Petronas!

We scream and celebrate about our meteoric FDIs. But while India, Thailand, Myanmar and China are joining hands to share the blessings of each nation for the progress and development of all their people across borders, Malaysia is on a diffrent bandwidth.

We are proudly selling our land and resources to foreign entities.

Not only do we have millions of accounted and millions more of undocumented foreign labour in the country, we are consequently suffering billions of ringgit fleeing this land.

Bukit Bintang is a virtual Arab street already. Go and find out how many shop lots and budget hotels are already an ‘equatorial desert bonanza’ experience of sights, sounds, tastes and smells to boot.

Even shopping in Bukit Bintang is no more an option for ordinary Malaysians, mind you. We can only go to downtown Sogo lah now.

Our energy must be sold at all costs. Why what happened to our glorious and very own Tenaga Nasional Berhad as well as other home-grown Malaysian operators?

Our prime lands must be sold. Why, we do not have capable developers and buyers within the nation?

And now this talk about Russia’s stake in our pride of the nation, Petronas.

Whatever happened to our 30 years of building our Made in Malaysia capabilities?

And we thrive on mysterious donations. All in the game plan of ‘endless promises’?

When we witness what other nations are doing and contrast those with our very own public funds being pumped into properties and what-have-you from London to New York to Australia, Malaysians may have to remain content with the draconian Official Secrets Act, the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma), and the ever popular ‘national security threat’ prescriptions dispensed.
