I am flabbergasted, shocked and bewildered beyond words reading the front page in The Sun today about the crooks in Immigration departments as reported here.

How come not even a single person has been charged in court and sent to jail?

The Immigration director-general (DG) says that more than 100 personnel are involved in the scam and may have pocketed over RM1 billion. Wow. Just wow.

The action taken is just sacking, increment frozen, suspension and transferred. If this is the only punishments, more will boldly do this knowing that they will get away scot-free without any Penal Code punishments.

The culprits’ assets should be frozen for money-laundering, they all should be arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) for endangering the country and all barred from traveling overseas, by the Immigration DG himself as he had said undesirables will be blocked from travelling.

Have we gone barking mad? A mother gets four days jail for shoplifting and a woman gets six months’ jail for writing something silly on her Facebook, but these 100 culprits who may have let god knows which terrorist and criminal into the country only get sacked from their job. Well, if they have made RM1 billion from this scheme then they will be laughing all the way to their holiday in Barbados isn’t it?

Doesn’t anyone in government think the punishment meted is just not enough and does not serve as a deterrent for anyone else?

I am still shocked, no jail term at all? Not even charged in court? Blimey.
