I am extremely amazed and puzzled at the possible impending closure of the famed MG Rover car manufacturer in the UK.

The Brits are supposed to be extremely innovative and modern and yet I cannot comprehend why they are letting go of a marque which cost more than others to build.

If only they had the forethought to consult our very own Proton for the secret of survival in the face of superior and cheaper cars. MG Rover, then, would not be facing the problems it is facing today.

It is not too late for MG Rover for they can still implement the 'Proton' formula to ensure the continued success of the MG Rover cars. Here I have summarised them nicely.

1) Appoint a former prime minister - either John Major or Margaret Thatcher - as advisor to MG Rover.

2) Lobby the government for preferential tariff, never mind that income is being lost to the nation is being pocketed by few preferred shareholders.

3) Accuse the more successful foreign car manufacturer of dumping their vehicles in local markets.

4) Claim that an MG Rover is better then Rolls Royce.

5) Set up a network of service centres with under qualified technicians and overpriced parts - this will give MG Rover owners an impression of exclusivity.

6) Make some really good MG Rovers - but these models should only be for export to gain international recognition.

7) Drop an MG Rover from a helicopter onto the North Pole.

I really urge MG to implement the above steps immediately. After all, the runaway success of Proton with its billions of dollars in profit and famed vendor development programme is a living testament to its success.

Can someone send this letter to MG Rovers please?
