I would like to draw the publics attention as to the construction of flyovers in Malacca. The idea of flyovers construction is a great idea but the projects have apparently been given to those who have no track record in such construction.
We in Malacca are supposed to have five flyovers from Muar to Alor Gajah which will allow us to bypass all the traffic lights. Out of the five, one has been completed but the remaining four are still under construction after more than two years.
And recently, the only one flyover which was completed near the Masjid Al Azhim, Bukit Baru was found to have cracks!
Secondly, I would like to draw attention to the development of a so-called eco-housing cum theme park at Bukit Beruang, Malacca. Bukit Beruang is supposed to be a forest reserve area. Why is it being raped and developed?
What is the definition of a forest reserve area? Is this the way a forest reserve should be used? Malacca Chief Minister Ali Rustam said that this development was a request from the city folk.
But as a Malaccan, I have certainly never agreed to any such development and I hope that the chief minister can show us proof that this is what Malacca city folk want.
The chief minister also said that logging has been done at Bukit Beruang since last year. Once again, I would like to question the state government: How can logging be done at a gazetted forest reserve area?
I hope once again that our respected CM can show us, the public, proof that this is what we really want.
To support my argument that Malacca is being mismanaged, take a look at Hang Tuah Walk. This project is a failure and the rental has not been paid for months. What action is the state government going to take?
