  • Much of the media reports and commentaries on the recent outburst of anti-Japan sentiments have been selectively focused on China.

The more complete truth is that the Korean people, both North and South, have been equally resentful of the dishonourable and dishonest behaviour of Japan.

Imperial Japan's occupation of the the Korean Peninsula that lasted from 1910 to 1945 conspired to destroy the Korean identity, especially the Korean language and schools.

Imperial Japan's rule in Korea also witnessed the systematic and planned conscription of thousands of Korean women and girls to serve as 'comfort women' (prostitutes) for its soldiers. However, Korean males were not allowed to marry Japanese women.

Even after World War II, Koreans who, for one reason or another, lived in Japan were subject to racial discrimination in everyday life and often treated as sub-humans.

It is time for Japan to honestly and honourably admit its sins and beg for forgiveness from the Korean people for its crimes against humanity - the true extent of which had been suppressed during the Cold War period.

The US, meanwhile, should not be an accomplice in Japan's despicable attempt to wash the blood off their hands.
    • US support for Japan will lose goodwill
    • Malaysians suffered under the Japanese
    • Anti-Japanese rallies should not provoke
    • Germany better candidate for UN Security Council
    • Yup, US needs to be checked and balanced
    • Birch and Malaysian rewriting of history
    • China - the feral dragon in sheeps clothing
    • WWII - falsehoods cant last forever
    • China not all that innocent
    • Japan must admit the blood on its hands
