A novel suggestion on sourcing for MACC funding

I refer to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) concerns as published here.

MACC funding for its operation in 2017 has been reduced as compared to 2016 or 2015 and MACC is concerned that it may not be able to carry out its activities to its desired level and target.

I wish to suggest a novel idea.

All ill-gotten gains confiscated by MACC will be turned over to the government once the case against bribery culprit is proven and sentence meted out by the courts.

Once the case is proven, the government should allow MACC to keep 30 to 40 percent of the confiscated amounts for its operations.

After all this is sort of similar to the proposal that the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) should keep some amount from the taxes collected for its running costs.
