MIC secretary-general S Sothinathan represented his community and he got punished for that because he forgot that he was elected as a Barisan Nasional representative.
When one runs under the BN ticket, he or she must leaves their conscience and principles at home. You are not a representative of the people but of the BN and therefore you must toe the line. You say and do only what is expected.
Sothinathan raised an issue which was of communal interest but unfortunately it was not in BN's interest and he is paying the price.
Sothinathan can join other opposition political parties who are concerned about both the Indian community and other communities who have been oppressed or marginalised. If the BN government does not appreciate his responsibility as a member of parliament, then perhaps he should represent Keadilan or DAP, who would be more than willing to help him champion his cause.
