Your report entitled Anwar: Nothing political in court settlement refers .
I and many other Malaysians, sympathetic to Anwar Ibrahim's long ordeal, expected him to obtain damages from the court. Well, in the ultimate sense, he agreed to accept the apology from his assailant.
I am not sure whether I said that this was 'disappointing' as reported by the AFP reporter whom I spoke to in a telephone interview because I knew that Anwar would have definitely considered the larger picture before taking such a decision.
I always maintained the stand that Anwar's release from prison has added a new dimension to Malaysian politics and his recent speeches provide much sustenance for the emergence of progressive politics in the country.
Furthermore, I did not say or allude that Anwar might join the ruling coalition. If the interview with the AFP reporter conveyed this impression, then I would like to deny it.
